Shahid Khokhar confirms FIFA’s mega event trophy may tour Pakistan, boosting football growth
slamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: Pakistan is set to witness a historic visit as the FIFA World Cup trophy may tour the country ahead of the 2026 mega event. Shahid Khokhar, COO of the Pakistan Football Federation, confirmed during the Expresso Morning Show that FIFA President Gianni Infantino’s visit could happen later this year.
The visit aims to promote football development nationwide with comprehensive plans in collaboration with FIFA and AFC. Shahid Khokhar highlighted upcoming promotional programs, the launch of a professional league, and enhanced support for the women’s national team, ensuring Pakistan competes at international events with stronger infrastructure and global recognition.
Currently, Pakistan boasts over 6,000 registered football clubs and 2,500 active voting clubs, reflecting the sport’s growing grassroots presence. The initiative marks a pivotal moment for football in Pakistan, strengthening youth engagement and the nation’s competitive edge on the international stage.
