Scotland Replaces Bangladesh in ICC T20 World Cup 2026
Lahore, Pakistan – Web Desk: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially included Scotland in the T20 World Cup 2026, replacing Bangladesh after the latter failed to comply with ICC board directives.
Bangladesh’s refusal to play in India triggered ICC’s decisive move, granting Scotland a chance based on their past ICC performances and current 14th global ranking. Scotland had secured third place in Group B during the 2024 World Cup and famously defeated Bangladesh in the 2021 ICC event.
The ICC Chief Executive confirmed the board’s decision and communicated it formally to Bangladesh Cricket Board president Aminul Islam, while Scotland Cricket received the official invitation. The announcement highlights ICC’s strict compliance policies and ensures a competitive edge in the upcoming T20 World Cup.
