Who Joined Trump’s Gaza Peace Board – And Who Rejected It

UK, France and key allies refuse Trump’s Peace Board amid UN replacement fears

At least 35 countries have signed on to US President Donald Trump’s proposed “Gaza Board of Peace,” while several major global powers have openly rejected the initiative, citing concerns over its structure, authority, and potential challenge to the United Nations.

According to international media reports, multiple countries signed the agreement during the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. However, skepticism grew after Trump suggested the Board of Peace could eventually replace the United Nations, alarming several Western allies.

The board originates from Trump’s 20-point Gaza ceasefire framework, previously endorsed by Israel, Hamas, and international mediators. While the UN Security Council had earlier approved a Gaza-focused oversight mechanism, CNN reports that the board’s charter does not explicitly mention Gaza. Instead, it defines the body as a global organization tasked with managing peace, governance, and stability in conflict-prone regions worldwide.

Trump will serve as chairman for an indefinite period, with an executive panel including Jared Kushner, Marco Rubio, Steve Witkoff, and former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair. Permanent membership reportedly requires a $1 billion contribution, allegedly for Gaza’s reconstruction.

Countries backing the board include Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt, Qatar, Pakistan, Turkey, Indonesia, Hungary, Morocco, Israel, and others. Russia has been invited but has not officially confirmed participation.

France, Norway, the UK, Italy, and Ukraine have declined to join, citing constitutional concerns, Russia’s inclusion, and uncertainty over how the board aligns with the UN. China has also distanced itself, reaffirming its commitment to UN-led diplomacy.
