Zardari endorses Judicial Commission recommendations for Sindh, Lahore, and Peshawar HCs
Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari has approved the confirmation and extension of service for additional judges of the Sindh, Lahore, and Peshawar High Courts, acting on the recommendations of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP).
According to an official statement issued by the Presidency’s Media Wing, the President confirmed ten additional judges of the Sindh High Court, including Justice Miran Muhammad Shah, Justice Tasneem Sultana, Justice Riazat Ali Sahar, Justice Muhammad Hassan, Justice Abdul Hameed Bharghari, Justice Jan Ali Junejo, Justice Nisar Ahmed Bhanbhro, Justice Ali Haider Ada, Justice Muhammad Usman Ali Hadi, and Justice Muhammad Jafar Raza.
The President also approved a six-month extension in the tenure of Sindh High Court additional judges Justice Khalid Hussain Shahani and Justice Syed Faiz-ul-Hassan Shah.
For the Lahore High Court, confirmations were granted to eleven additional judges, including Justice Hassan Nawaz Makhdum, Justice Malik Waqar Haider Awan, Justice Sardar Akbar Ali, Justice Syed Ahsan Raza Kazmi, Justice Malik Javed Iqbal Venus, Justice Muhammad Jawad Zafar, Justice Khalid Ishaq, Justice Malik Muhammad Awais Khalid, Justice Chaudhry Sultan Mahmood, Justice Tanveer Ahmed Sheikh, and Justice Abir Gul Khan. A six-month extension was also approved for Justice Tariq Mahmood Bajwa.
Meanwhile, six additional judges of the Peshawar High Court were confirmed, including Justice Muhammad Tariq Afridi, Justice Abdul Fayaz, Justice Salahuddin, Justice Sadiq Ali, Justice Syed Mudassar Ameer, and Justice Qazi Jawad Ehsanullah. Four Peshawar High Court judges—Justice Farah Jamshed, Justice Inamullah Khan, Justice Sabitullah Khan, and Justice Aurangzeb—were granted six-month extensions.
The approvals were issued on the advice of the Prime Minister, reinforcing continuity and stability within Pakistan’s judicial system.
