OGDCL announces significant oil and gas finds in Kohat’s Barguzi and Nashpa fields.

Islamabad/Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: The Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has announced the discovery of new oil and gas reserves in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, signaling a boost to Pakistan’s energy sector.

According to an official letter to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the Barguzi X-1 well in Kohat is producing 3,100 barrels of oil per day, while the Nashpa block well is yielding 8.15 million cubic feet of natural gas daily. The wellhead flowing pressure has been recorded at 3,010 psi.

Drilling at the Barguzi X-1 well reached a depth of 5,170 meters on December 30, 2024, and the Nashpa field drilling was completed using a successful drill system, ensuring maximum efficiency. These discoveries are expected to strengthen Pakistan’s domestic energy production, reduce dependency on imports, and attract potential investment in the hydrocarbon sector.

OGDCL’s announcement reflects continued exploration success in Pakistan’s oil and gas industry, marking a critical milestone for the country’s energy security and economic growth.
