A new western disturbance triggers heavy snowfall, rain, and fog across Lahore, Murree & Punjab
Punjab is under a major weather alert as a new western disturbance hits the province, bringing severe cold, rain, dense fog, and heavy snowfall. According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), Lahore and surrounding areas will experience freezing temperatures, while Murree, Galiyat, and other hill stations are expected to see intense snow and rainfall from January 20–23.
PDMA Director General Irfan Ali Kathia confirmed that all relevant departments—including local governments, health services, Rescue 1122, police, forestry, tourism, and transport—have been placed on high alert. Emergency control rooms will operate 24/7 to manage any incidents promptly.
Meteorological forecasts predict Lahore’s temperatures will range from 4°C (low) to 14°C (high). Citizens are advised to avoid unnecessary travel, follow official guidelines, and tourists visiting Murree should take precautionary measures. PDMA has also set up tourist facilitation centers in Murree and urges the public to contact PDMA Helpline 1129 in case of emergencies.
