Ayaz Sadiq says constitutional decorum will be enforced; peaceful protest allowed

Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has firmly stated that no parliamentarian will be allowed to make remarks against Pakistan, the judiciary, or the armed forces inside Parliament, warning that attempts to disrupt the parliamentary environment will not succeed.

Speaking during a visit to Lahore’s National College of Arts (NCA), the Speaker emphasized that maintaining constitutional discipline and order in the National Assembly is his foremost responsibility. He described himself as neutral, stating that he is neither aligned with the government nor the opposition.

Ayaz Sadiq made it clear that only constitutionally appropriate discussions will be permitted on the Assembly floor. He said members who follow parliamentary rules and decorum, including opposition leaders, will be given full opportunity to speak.

Highlighting the importance of peaceful political expression, the Speaker said protests are acceptable as long as they remain non-violent and free of vandalism or weapons.

On economic matters, he noted that Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves have reached $40 billion, while overseas remittances continue to rise. He also highlighted Pakistan’s strengthening diplomatic relations with countries including the United States, China, Russia, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey.

The Speaker added that he regularly consults Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, emphasizing that such consultations improve governance without compromising parliamentary independence.

He concluded by reiterating that any attempt to undermine national institutions or disrupt parliamentary proceedings would be dealt with strictly under constitutional rules.
