Iran Honors Security Personnel Killed During Protests Amid Rising Casualties

Date:

Tehran hosts massive funeral procession for nearly 100 slain security officers and civilians as unrest continues.

Iran held official funerals for around 100 security personnel and civilians killed during recent protests. Thousands participated in the procession in Tehran, carrying Iranian flags and images of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei.

The coffins, adorned with flowers, were transported on large trucks to their final resting places, where families performed burial rituals. High-ranking government officials and representatives of the ruling party attended the ceremonies.

Amidst these official proceedings, human rights organizations in the U.S. have reported that the death toll from the crackdown on protests may be nearing 2,500. Security forces have arrested over 18,000 demonstrators, with fears that some may face execution.

These funerals come as Iran continues to grapple with nationwide protests, government crackdowns, and growing international scrutiny over human rights violations.
