WASHINGTON (WEB DESK) – The United States has instructed its citizens to leave Iran immediately, as nationwide protests continue to intensify and fears of “violent” unrest grow.
In a warning issued by the U.S. Embassy, it was stated that the protests in Iran have led to arrests, injuries, heightened security measures, road closures, suspension of transport, and internet shutdowns — all of which pose risks to the safety of American citizens.
The embassy advised that, if possible, U.S. citizens should depart Iran via land routes through Armenia or Turkey. It also urged travelers to arrange alternative means of communication due to internet disruptions.
Dual nationals holding both U.S. and Iranian citizenship were cautioned that Iran does not recognize dual nationality, meaning they must exit the country using their Iranian passports.
The embassy further emphasized that those who remain in Iran should avoid protests, stay away from public gatherings, and keep themselves in secure locations.
