(Web Desk) – On the occasion of Christmas, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari extended greetings to Pakistan’s Christian community, highlighting their role in national development, peace, and social harmony.
Both leaders underscored the importance of unity, religious freedom, and mutual respect in the country.
PM Sharif praised Hazrat Isa (A.S) for his message of peace, brotherhood, and love.
He described the Christian community as an active, positive, and peaceful segment of society, commending their contributions to socio-economic development and their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.
Sharif urged all Pakistanis to renew their commitment to nation-building and social harmony, highlighting that the Christian community’s services help promote unity across the country. “Christmas is a message for humanity that connects us with feelings of love and goodwill,” he said.
President Asif Ali Zardari’s message
President Zardari emphasized that Christmas brings hope, peace, and compassion while reminding citizens of the bonds that connect all humans.
He referenced Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s vision of Pakistan as a state based on freedom and equality for all, quoting Jinnah’s historic August 11, 1947, address affirming the right to worship freely.
Zardari also acknowledged the significant contributions of Christian citizens in politics, national defense, education, arts, health, and public service, and paid tribute to notable figures like SP Singha and war hero Cecil Chaudhry.
He reiterated that Pakistan’s Constitution guarantees equal rights and religious freedom, urging the nation to continue fostering tolerance, cooperation, and peaceful coexistence.
