Islamabad (Web Desk) – Renowned Pakistani businessman Arif Habib, after acquiring Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), has announced plans to expand the airline’s fleet from 38 to 65 aircraft.
Speaking to the media following his successful bid in Islamabad, Habib praised the government’s transparent privatization process, saying it would benefit Pakistan’s economy. He added that this marks a victory for the nation, as foreign investors will be drawn to Pakistan, boosting investment and creating new employment opportunities.
The Arif Habib Group secured PIA with a winning bid of Rs 135 billion, narrowly surpassing the Lucky Consortium’s Rs 134 billion offer. The deal now awaits approval from the Privatization Commission, Cabinet Committee on Privatization, and the federal cabinet before PIA is officially handed over to the consortium.
