Sri Lankan military commander lauds Pakistan’s search and rescue team

(Web Desk) – Sri Lankan Army Commander, Lieutenant General Lasantharu Darigo, praised the capabilities of Pakistan’s urban search and rescue team amid flood devastation.

Darigo expressed his gratitude to Pakistan for offering timely assistance during difficult times and commended the professionalism and efficiency of the rescue team.

He highlighted that Pakistan’s support to friendly nations like Sri Lanka exemplifies the country’s global responsibility and its commitment to collaborating with allies in times of need.

Following directives from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has dispatched the Pakistan Army’s elite Search and Rescue Team for participation in relief operations.

A Pakistan Air Force C-130 aircraft carrying a 47-member relief team along with 6.5 tons of essential equipment has also arrived in Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, NDMA has sent 200 tons of relief supplies via a naval ship.

Pakistan reiterated its resolve to continue all possible support for Sri Lankan disaster victims, calling the relief efforts a symbol of the deep friendship between the two nations and a commitment to regional solidarity.
