MOSCOW (Web Desk) – Russian President Vladimir Putin has revealed that the latest proposals presented by US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are based on the planned Russia–US summit in Alaska.
He said Washington has restructured its 28-point Ukraine peace plan into four separate packages as part of a new negotiation strategy with Moscow.
In an interview with Indian news channel India Today, Putin said the meeting with the American envoys at the Kremlin lasted five hours, during which each point was discussed in detail. He described the talks as “very useful and productive.”
According to Putin, the original 28-point US peace plan remains intact, but Washington has proposed breaking it into four segments to advance negotiations. He added that US President Donald Trump is making a “serious effort” to resolve the Ukraine crisis, though several issues still lack mutual consensus.
The Russian president said Moscow had initially advised Kyiv to withdraw its forces from Donbas to avoid military confrontation, but Ukraine chose to continue its armed operations. Putin asserted that Russia would secure Donbas and Novorossiya either through force or through the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops to restore peace.
He further stressed that European countries must play a constructive role in resolving the Ukraine conflict rather than placing obstacles in the negotiation process.
