Trade disrupted as Torkham closure hits day 35

Date:

(Web Desk) – After a passage of 35 days, the Torkham border remained closed for all kinds of trade activities. The border is open only for the smooth repatriation of Afghan nationals.

The border management officials said that the border is closed due to security threats. They further said that all facilities, including meals and water, are being supplied in holding camps.

These officials reviewed all the facilities being provided to the Afghan nations in holding camps.

The Torkham crossing was partially reopened on November 1, 2025, to allow thousands of stranded Afghan refugees to return home after nearly three weeks of closure.

The border had been sealed on October 12 following deadly clashes, which both sides reported resulted in significant troop casualties.

During the closure, thousands of Afghan refugees were stranded, and hundreds of trucks carrying goods were halted, disrupting vital trade routes between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Pakistani authorities continue to manage the process to ensure safe and orderly repatriation while maintaining restrictions on all other cross-border traffic.
