Get ready for 28th Constitutional Amendment

Date:

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Senator Faisal Vawda said on Monday that the 27th Constitutional Amendment has been approved and now its time to get ready for 28th Amendment.

Talking to journalists at Parliament House, Vawda said that the 27th Amendment will strengthen democracy and enhance the country’s defence.

When asked why Maulana Fazlur Rehman not supported the amendment, Vawda responded, “Maulana is our elder; we learn politics from him.”

He praised the prime minister’s efforts, saying, “The prime minister has done an excellent job. I value his leadership. He has taken a very commendable step in line with democratic traditions.”

In response to another question regarding the proposed amendment to change the name of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Vawda said, “Aimal Wali is my friend — he will cooperate with me”.

Earlier, Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar tabled the 27th Amendment in the Senate for approval after securing consensus with allies amid the opposition’s uproar.

Senator Agha Shahzaib Durrani said the issue was not personal but national, questioning why PTI had not conducted intra-party elections.

Senator Fauzia Arshad stated the opposition leader was absent from the Senate, highlighting that the 27th Amendment undermines institutions and is personal in nature.

Before the Senate session, members were invited for breakfast, with Senator Dinesh Kumar listing the menu items including eggs, parathas and halwa.
