LAHORE: Pakistan Railways has officially launched an upgraded railcar service on the busy Lahore–Rawalpindi route, aiming to enhance passenger comfort and travel efficiency. The inauguration ceremony was led by CEO Aamir Ali Baloch, who personally inspected the newly refurbished coaches.
The new rake has been redesigned to withstand challenging tracks and routes, with a focus on modern amenities. Passengers will now benefit from improved seating, food and beverage services, first-aid kits, and enhanced cleanliness standards throughout the journey.
Speaking at the event, CEO Baloch emphasized that similar upgrades are being introduced across other trains in the country. He highlighted that Pakistan Railways is committed to improving sanitation, onboard medical care, and overall service quality to ensure a safe and affordable travel experience.
“Our primary goal is to ensure passengers reach their destinations quickly and safely,” Baloch stated, reaffirming the department’s dedication to modernization.
He also revealed that locomotive and track maintenance is actively underway, with international funding being utilized to upgrade infrastructure. These efforts are expected to boost train speeds and improve the reliability of services in the near future.
This move is part of a broader initiative to revitalize Pakistan’s railway system, making it more competitive and passenger-friendly amid rising demand for efficient intercity travel.
