KARACHI —Karachi’s streets just got smarter — and stricter. Within its first full day of operation, the city’s AI-powered Traffic Regulation and Citation System (TRACS) has issued a staggering 10,428 digital challans, collecting nearly Rs4.78 crore in fines.
The fully automated system — launched Monday — marks the beginning of a new era of data-driven traffic enforcement, where violations are caught by cameras, not constables.

TRACS cameras monitored key arteries like Sharah-e-Faisal, Rashid Minhas Road, and University Road, automatically flagging offenders with no human involvement.

How TRACS Works
Using high-definition, AI-integrated cameras, TRACS automatically detects violations, identifies vehicle data through the excise database, and issues e-challans digitally — ensuring zero corruption and full transparency.
Each challan is linked to the driver’s CNIC and vehicle registration, with notifications sent via SMS and email.

- Minimum fines start at Rs5,000
- A 50% discount applies if paid within 14 days
- Repeat offenders and fake plate users risk vehicle impoundment or CNIC blocking
Dedicated TRACS Sahulat Centres have opened across major traffic offices to assist citizens with payments, appeals, or clarifications.
