KARACHI (Staff Reporter) — Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah inaugurated the Traffic Regulation and Citation System (TRACS) at the Central Police Office, marking a transformative leap in traffic management and digital governance across the province.
Describing TRACS as “more than a technological upgrade,” the Chief Minister said the initiative reflects Sindh’s commitment to transparency, modernization, and citizen-centric services. “This is not just a Police Department project—it’s a reform for every citizen,” he stated.
🚦 What is TRACS?
TRACS replaces the manual ticketing system with a fully automated, AI-powered e-ticketing platform. Integrated with high-definition CCTV cameras, the system detects violations such as:
- Over-speeding
- Red-light jumping
- Helmet non-compliance
By eliminating human discretion, TRACS ensures fairness, accountability, and reduced confrontation between citizens and law enforcement.
📲 Seamless Integration & Citizen Access
The system is linked with key government databases including:
- Excise & Taxation
- Driving License System
- NADRA e-Sahulat
- Modern payment gateways
Citizens can now view and pay fines online or via the TRACS mobile app. Dedicated Sahulat Centres at traffic offices and police stations will assist with fine payments, violation clarifications, and challan disputes.
📊 Data-Driven Safety Reform
Highlighting Karachi’s 684 traffic accident fatalities between August 2024 and October 2025, CM Shah emphasized TRACS’ role in improving road safety. He proposed a two-tier penalty system: an initial warning followed by stricter fines for repeat offenses.
“If you want to know how civilised a nation is, look at its traffic,” he remarked, urging public cooperation in embracing safer driving habits.
🛡️ Law Enforcement Commended
The Chief Minister praised Sindh Police, Rangers, and other law enforcement agencies for their digital transformation efforts and crime reduction achievements. He lauded the surrender of 72 dacoits in the Katcha areas, calling it a major breakthrough.
He also extended special appreciation to DIG Traffic Pir Muhammad Shah, whose leadership and dedication played a pivotal role in conceptualizing and executing the TRACS initiative. His tireless efforts in coordinating inter-agency collaboration, overseeing technical implementation, and ensuring officer training were instrumental in bringing this ambitious project to life.
