LAHORE:Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari, while reacting to Sindh provincial minister Sharjeel Memon’s press conference, said that Sharjeel Memon should visit Lahore to learn how record development and public welfare projects are being made by the Punjab government.
Talking to media, Azma Bukhari told Sharjeel Inam, “You did a good job by repeating Punjab’s Pink Scooties after years.”
“You should give advice to the federation day and night, but there should be some wisdom in it”, Azma Bukhari said.
She said Punjab government gave relief of 55 billion to farmers in 2024 and Punjab government has given relief of Rs98 billion to farmers in 2025. She said Punjab government’s agriculture budget for the current fiscal year has reached Rs 129.8 billion.
“Farmers have made purchases worth more than Rs 60 billion on the Punjab government’s Kisan Card, said Azma Bukhari. CM Maryam gave 9,500 tractors to farmers last year, she is going to give 9,500 tractors this year too”, Azma Bukhari claimed.
She said Maryam Nawaz gave a support program of Rs 14 billion to farmers on wheat a few months ago.Azma Bukhari said before expressing sorrow over Punjab farmers and wheat, Sindh should fulfill its wheat demand. She said wheat consumption in Punjab is two and a half times more than Sindh.
Azma Bukhari said Punjab’s wheat production is 22.05 million metric tons, while Sindh’s wheat production is only 3.54 million metric tons. She claimed Punjab has a surplus of 6.63+ million metric tons in wheat and Sindh is facing a deficit of 3.19 million tons.
Punjab produces more wheat than required while Sindh faces severe shortage. Punjab is the largest wheat producing province, it also meets the needs of other provinces. Sindh is not able to produce wheat according to the needs of its population, hence supply is required from other places.
Azma Bukhari urged PPP not to indulge in politics on the floods. Floods have also come to Sindh, what relief are they giving to the victims there, they should tell the nation. Azma Bukhari said Maryam Nawaz was giving relief to the flood victims in Punjab, why is the Sindh government is getting jealous of Punjab government work.
