ICC accepts PCB’s stand against Indian captain Suryakumar for political rhetoric

Date:

DUBAI:The International Cricket Council (ICC) has accepted the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) stand against Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav regarding attempting to spread political pollution in the game.

According to sources, the PCB had written a detailed letter to the ICC on Suryakumar Yadav’s statement.

The PCB had demanded the ICC to take disciplinary action against Suryakumar Yadav.

The ICC is likely to take action against Suryakumar Yadav, sources said.

The Indian captain violated the ICC’s code of conduct in the match against Pakistan.

According to text of PCB’s letter, bringing Pahalgam and Operation Sindoor into the game is a violation of the ICC code of conduct.

If the ICC continues to allow such political rhetoric, the game will suffer serious damage.

The ICC should take action against Suryakumar Yadav to stop such political rhetoric.

BCCI lodges official complaint

The Indian cricket team has reportedly filed an official complaint with the International Cricket Council (ICC) against two Pakistani players, Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan for making provocative gestures during their recent Super Four match of the ongoing Asia Cup 2025 in the UAE. The BCCI is said to have sent the complaint on Wednesday and the ICC has acknowledged the receipt of the mail, reported Indian website news18.com

The complaint is regarding Sahibzada’s “gun celebration” after reaching a half-century during India vs Pakistan in Dubai on September 21 which drew widespread criticism.

On the other hand, in the same match, Haris Rauf made downing of a plane gestures to mock India’s military action after Indian fans chanted “Kohli, Kohli,” referencing the match-winning sixes that Virat Kohli hit off the pacer during the 2022 T20 World Cup game in Melbourne.

Additionally, Rauf also clashed with Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill.

Should Sahibzada and Rauf deny the charges in writing, an official hearing will be conducted. The duo may have to appear before ICC Elite Panel Referee Richie Richardson.
