PM Shehbaz says will not tolerate obstacles to foreign investment

ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk)- Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday said he would not tolerate any obstacles in the way of investment by foreigners in the country.
Addressing the 10th meeting of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) which began on Saturday, he said military leadership played a key role in bringing foreign investment in the country. He said the government was running the affairs of SIFC with the active participation of all the provinces.
All the chief ministers expressed their confidence in steps taken by the government to promote forieng investment under the platform of the SIFC. The prime minister said government had broken the begging bowl. He said friendly countries had appreciated the measures taken by the SIFC. He told the participants that the UAE government had allocated 10 billion dollars for making investment in Pakistan.
The meeting began at 1pm. The meeting agenda was earlier released.
“The SIFC is not about the officers of Pak Army only as all the chief ministers, federal ministers and other officials are part of it,” said the prime minister.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti and KP CM Ali Amin Gandapur, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Federal Power Minister Awais Leghari were also present in the meeting.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur was invited to participate in the SIFC meeting. Federal Information Minister Atta Tarar, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Planning and Development Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan, Law and Justice Minister Nazir Tarar and Water Resources Minister also attended the meeting. Besides that, four chief secretaries were in attendance.
Foreign investment was the focal point of discussion of the participants of the meeting. Important decision were expected to be taken during the meeting.
In the last meeting of Special Investment Facilitation Council, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said SIFC was an important platform which would continue to play its role. It would be a welcome step and need of the hour to sit together to tackle the economic challenges.
